Checking your acidity level is much easier than most people think.. but it needs to be done correctly for the results to be of any use, regardless of those results.

To obtain the best and most accurate results from your testing, you need to be consistent.

Today I’m going to tell you how you can not just test your acidic level but how to do it accurately so your results are trustworthy. Simply licking or weeing on a piece of litmus paper a few times per day just won’t cut it here, we need accuracy and constancy in order to get comparable and repeatable results day in day out.

All that is needed for this test is a box of litmus paper strips.

sevenpoint2 acidity level check
A pH level no less than 7 is the goal.

Step 1: Morning saliva acidity level test.

Why: The saliva acidity level test is done in order that you can test how well (or bad) your body is at managing the residual acidity in your system from the day/night before. Of course this test must be done first thing in the mornings to ensure you don’t influence or contaminate the results. For this test you are looking for a pH level of 7.2 as a minimum and 7.3 as an optimum and above 7.4 is fine.

How: The very first thing in the morning, before having a drink of water, cleaning your teeth or putting anything in your mouth, perform the test. Place a strip of litmus paper on your tongue for approximately 20 seconds then remove and allow another 30 seconds before observing the result.

Results: If you measure your pH under 7 it is telling you that your body has not been able to manage/process the acidity in your system from the day before. This is of course not a good thing.

Step 2: Morning urine acidity level test.

Why: The very first wee you have in the morning is gold.. as in it’s valuable. This urine has all of the information stored in it as to what your body has been doing all night. It will tell you how well you have metabolised the foods you consumed in the previous 8-12 hours. For this test you are looking for a pH level of 7 or higher.

How: Allow a few drops of mid-flow wee to soak in to the litmus paper. Allow 30 seconds before observing the result.

Results: If you measure your pH under 7 it is telling you that your body has not been able to manage/process the acidity in the food you consumed the evening/night before. It can also be showing that your body has created acidity form that same food.

Step 3: Post-hydration pre-food urine test.

Why: This 2nd urine acidity level test is done after you have had a morning drink of water. This is important, a glass of water only not food. The intent of this test is to check to see what pH level your “realtime” pH is.  For this test you are looking for a pH level that is higher (more alkaline) than your first urine test that day and ideally above 7.

How: Allow a few drops of mid-flow wee to soak in to the litmus paper. Allow 30 seconds before observing the result.

Results: If you measure your pH and it is the same as your first urine test, the result is telling you that your body has a very low/slow processing ability for the acidity it is subjected to.

These results should be logged for at least 3 weeks or better still 1 month. It is even better if you can keep a diet/food log so that you can compare spikes in your acidity with specific dietary events. If you, for example, had a few coffee one afternoon and you tested pH low (more acidic) then you can see why.

From your results, you will be able to determine how acidic your body is over time. you shouldn’t change your diet over the testing period because this will influence your results.

How to read your results.

This is the most important aspect of the whole testing. You should take an average of your pH levels over the full test period to determine your “standard” pH level. Remember though, this pH level will be a reflection of your body only during the test period. If you have cheated and “gone alkaline” for a while during the test, the resulting average pH will be useless.

If you have a standard pH level above 7-7.2 you’re doing great, keep up what you have been doing. If you have a standard pH level of under 7 you need to make instant changes to your diet and/or lifestyle if you want to live longer.
