Help revive your adrenals with this awesome juice recipe.

We really need to look after our adrenals (adrenal system).. as in REALLY need to.

Until recently, I suffered from chronic migraines that have been so bad I’ve quit jobs just to be able to go home. I’ve been “offered the opportunity to pursue work elsewhere” and told “one more sick day and that’s it.”  I’ve tried every known pharmaceutical drug under the sun, including Botox injections (that hurt) all over my head and neck. Not even morphine based pain killers did anything to prevent, limit or alleviate the attacks.

I had placed myself in to a vicious cycle. Being run down and low on energy I’d use coffee to stimulate my system but once that had worn off.. the drop off in energy was sudden and staggering. Fatigue, brain fade, limited or total loss of concentration and the inability to remember almost anything started to come back with a vengeance. So I’d brew another coffee and wait for the caffeine hit again.

All I was doing with my coffee intake was running my adrenals on overdrive constantly.. and eventually they cried enough! MIGRAINE.

Why we need to take care of the adrenals.

The adrenal glands are a part of your endocrine system, the system of glands and organs that regulates ALL of your hormones. This endocrine system includes your adrenals, thyroid, pituitary, hypothalamus, pancreas, testes/uterus and more.

There are many factors that can affect the performance of the adrenals including stress, poor sleep, inflammation – and of course diet.

A diet high in sugar, gluten, caffeine, alcohol, processed foods, additives, preservatives and so on will most definitely stress the adrenals – very quickly.

Today, there are probably millions of people who have moderate to severe adrenal fatigue.

  • 1 handful of basil leaves

  • 200ml coconut water
  • 1 scoop 7.2 Greens powder
sevenpoint2 alkaline juice
Taking the adrenal juice with ice

As with all of the smoothies or juices I make, I always start to layer the blending jar with the softer, smaller ingredients first. So with this recipe, I start off with the spinach, basil and chia seeds.

As we are looking to make a juice here rather than a thicker smoothie, you can add a dash (100ml or so) of alkaline water. I found that adding the alkaline water takes away some of the “tang” you get from the carrot juice.. but that’s just my preferred taste.

The Nutrimix that I use does a great job of blitzing everything up, but you can achieve pretty much just as good of a result using anything from a basic stick blender to a Nutribullet.

Since I started using the 7.2 range of products, I’ve started to add 1 scoop 7.2 Greens powder to this recipe just to give the alkaline benefit that extra boost.

There are lots of options in consuming your juice

My Zenify ice cube tray

I also use my Zenify ice cube tray to freeze lots of my smoothie/juice mixes for those days/mornings when I’m running late.

I will crack out a few cubes in to my drink bottle and by the time I’m ready they have melted down to the normal juice mix.

On hot days in summer I even suck on the cubes to help keep me cool and use some to add that extra cold chill to my regular smoothie.
